Rugged turns in a remote corner of the world - the Caucus Mountains - Chechnya border, Republic of Georgia 2006.

Years ago I joined @kevinfedarkoauthor on a ski adventure in some of the most vast mountains I’ve visited. An endless snow and avalanche cycle, however, stranded us for weeks on the border in a defunct bank - adding to our list of misadventures which eventually led us to more inside the Grand Canyon.

Happy #earthday. 🌎 It should be every day — despite the many distractions.

Even with all the chaos on the world — the wars on humanity and wildlife — take a moment to celebrate our shared big blue world and try one thing to improve your spot on it.
As a photographer and filmmaker, I’ve spent years documenting the wonders of our natural world, its challenges and along the way, I’ve seen some remarkable, surprising success stories about protecting places — often led by a few brave individuals that made a choice to make a difference in their corner of the world.

I’ve seen rivers flow again, impactful developments get shelved and wild critters roam where they should.

We’ve have a lot of climbing ahead, that requires significant changes, but incremental steps move things. Beyond my work in conservation storytelling and spending time outside, at home I do my best to be a reductionist where I can — with energy, food, impact and more. In my book - Doing what we can is better than apathy.
