Thanks @davidmuirabc @abcnews @natgeo for letting me share one of my favorite American wonders and a few of it’s remarkable people like @carlettatilousi that not only care for it but help remind us how special it is and why we protect and celebrate such wonders on July 4th and beyond. ...
Hotter and drier: welcome to the new West and wildfire.
Wildfires are running wild across the West - the results of less moisture, a changed climate and in part, less manpower and funding for it all.
These are a few frames when I evacuated my home a few years ago. I recall thinking it wouldn’t happen in my town next to a river. Now it is happening everywhere. Be prepared.
Thanks to all the brave fire fighters across Colorado and beyond risking all for all of us. My town is thankfully still here thanks to the amazing work of a few firefighters.
The tragic loss near Grand Junction is heartbreaking.

It’s thirsty times in the western U.S., but I’ve seen pockets of earned hope that prove we can restore rivers and conserve water if we try.
I’ll be speaking about the entire length of the Colorado River tomorrow at Aspen Ideas. For those in the area, please join me at 2:20pm.
The entire country relies on this river for food production, energy, or drinking water. We have a rough boat ride ahead, but we have no choice but to find solutions. Check out @reviveelrio to learn more.

So fun to finally join the club - Happy Father’s Day to all the papa bears out there.
I wasn’t sure I’d ever get the privilege to experience the wonder and worry.
Thanks to my dad for setting such a great hard working, fair, family and community-minded examples for us and bringing having so many “safety third” adventures along the way.
I’m beyond grateful to all the support on this journey - from family, friends, neighbors and more sending everyone from food to traditional baby boards.
@_heidimccabe_ thanks for being the rock behind this Papa.

From warm-water waves to ice cream -headache freezing dives - I’ve spent years paddling, exploring and marveling at many of our vast oceans and its inhabitants. It’s impossible to capture the symphony of life - microscopic to monstrous and the challenges our oceans face from corral bleaching to plastic pollution, over fishing and more.
The one lesson I’ve repeatedly learned -
Despite the enormity of our oceans, our footprint as humans is the greatest upon it.
Here are a few frames of the wonder it holds. Hopefully we can find ways to steward our waters that sustain better.
